I read somewhere that they are the same thing, but I want to check here to see if there are any major differences that might cause problems with the software that we run on it.

Our software vendor is concerned that it may not work correctly on IoT without testing it but we are kind of on a time crunch.

It’s designed to protect against well-known threats such as Pass-the-Hash and credential harvesting. Windows Defender Credential Guard has always been an optional feature, but Windows 10 in S mode turns on this functionality by default when the machine has been Azure Active Directory-joined.
