Hello, I am trying to create a GPO to automatically push sysinternals autologon, and have an account automatically logon. I have created a batch file that is located in the Computer Configuration start up script, however I am not able to get my computer to login automatically.

Here is the content of my script, the autologon. I am using Win I prefer to use a GPO to automate this process because I have a bunch of machines that needs an autologin feature. You need a registry setting for the “control userpasswords2” to work with domain Thanks, but both methods will store user name and password in the registry unencrypted. I aware sysinternal autologon encryption flaw but I cannot use unencrypted registry keys for deployment.

Then you may want to share with us your use case? Coz sometimes convenience is inversely proportional to security. Then what does encryption have to do with anything? The worse case is to disable regedit from that user and the login user will not be able to access the registry, but he will be able to gain access to Domain resources?

I have a bunch of machines that are currently not on the domain. I have been tasked to create a gpo to lock down these machines similar to a kiosk and only allow a single application and have auto login automatically sign in and start up the app that is necessary for operation. I have everything set except the auto logon portion. Unfortunately I can’t place username and password in the registry because this will get flag by our audit team. The audit team has approved the use of sysinternals autologon because it encrypts the user name and password in the registry as this method will pass audit.

Interested to see your policy files minus the username and password because I was busy with something similar. How did you nuke away WinX? Did it without white or blacklisting. I guess that was something like that for case use Does that machine need to use a Domain user? You can have a machine in the domain but use a local user, especially if the logged in user does not need any Domain resources. As mentioned, this is a chicken and egg scenario Then how about blocking user access to the registry?

As mentioned in 2, it is dangerous enough to place a kiosk in the Domain using a Domain user if you have security concerns. Kiosks are supposed to be “standalone”. BTW, you may want to tag people or reply with quote if you want response so they can see the notification. To continue this discussion, please ask a new question. Why not just use “control userpasswords2” to set autologin for client machines? What OS is that? Jsmith Feb 19, at UTC. I am open to suggestions if there’s a more efficient way. Here you go. Hope that clears everything up. Ghost Chili. Jsmith wrote: I have a bunch of machines that are currently not on the domain. Does that machine need to be in the Domain? This topic has been locked by an administrator and is no longer open for commenting. Read these next
